We have a lot to cover in this blog post so let us begin.

If you are not familiar, not familiar with what copywriting is? No problem! Copywriting is the method that search engine marketers can turn words that describe products in to actually converting users into purchasing the product.

For example, your customer has a website that is in the transportation industry as an extreme example. You know little to nothing about any of the products that are on the website. Surprisingly, this happens all too often in Search Engine Marketing and learning the products can take loads of YOUR TIME. You can use Copywriting to take the information that is already available on the website to turn it into multiple sales or traffic and engagement to your website!

So the website specializes in providing high-quality Ratchet Straps for an affordable price. However…….. they have little to no SEO present on the website. The descriptions are pretty bare and have very little organic keywords promoting their website. Which in return makes advertising spending much higher to hold the same potential results. The website we will be reviewing today can be located here

The goal is to be able to improve SEO in the best possible way that can help introduce new sales to the local business on a national scale. Part of the goal for this website is to understand where some of the key focus points of traffic for this website are coming from and how to encourage a call to action for the customers who are watching the website on search engines or on the pages to convert. The very first step of our SEO audit is to learn about the company and what kind of products or services they offer in order to understand the customer’s mindset of what they are looking for. The company Shipper’s Supplies offers tie-down straps, e track rails for semis, and a wide variety of different cargo securement products that are used in order to keep cargo on semi-trucks, dry vans, or pickup trucks and trailers arrive at the destination safely.

Once we determined that the audience base was vastly first time shippers and on the opposite end professional flatbed fleet owners we decided to take the mutual approach to cater the content and products on the website to both customer bases to welcome small orders as well as the larger sized online orders. Next, we went ahead and created a SEO audit to determine the weaknesses of the website and some of the strengths in the website such as the product descriptions and really giving the information that the customers were looking for at the first click to prevent the customers from going to a competitors website to find out the information they were looking for.

We started to notice there was quite a trend in the number of orders being placed during sales due to the promotional discounts and found that companies who bought cargo securement products outside of sales were typically companies, while individuals were often the clients who would order during sales to save as much as possible. The one shocking part of the SEO audit was realizing that most of the customers during the sales were previous clients who were returning and purchased relatively the same products on the next order. As Tie Down Straps and other cargo securement equipment has an expiration date on the amount of strength they are able to hold this makes a lot of sense for the company.

Once we were able to determine the customer’s audience base it was next time to analyze the competitor websites inside of the industry and determine what keywords they were using in order to steal keywords and traffic from the company. It was quite shocking the first time going over the data to realize that very little content was original and was being recycled from our content into a much more detailed version and being used to compete against our own work that had been done on the website previously.

We had to adapt a plan to fix the competitors stealing keywords… and it had to be done FAST. I determined the main reason that the competitors were able to tell what work was being done was the upload schedule that the company was using to upload the new content. As a new product was released the company was previously releasing it in what would seem like real-time. Why is this a problem you may ask? Your competitors are using tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, and other tools to track what you are doing in almost real-time. This is no different than your competitors being behind your shoulder copying your work and developing the better version of the content you are spending endless hours on.

The number one way to counter these tactics is by becoming clever. In the next two weeks, we spent developing content that was original, unique, and also content that helped answer the customer’s questions on the website that they may have not been able to find previously. This allows us to lower some of the advertising spend on Google ads, as well as being considered a more trusted source on Google that helps us rank better inside of the industry as a more reputable source. Once the two weeks had passed we began using a strategy that would spend an entire day uploading two to three weeks of content at once preventing our competitors to keep track of what we were focusing on.

Part of the reason this was working so well was due to the various amount of categories, adding new products, and cleaning up some of the old product pages. This sends the competitor a confusing signal on what your business is working on and prevents the competitor in fixing the content on their website up. As well as if they were to clean up the pages that we were cleaning up and providing a better sample of, they would still be two weeks of work behind our schedule causing two weeks behind on deadlines to fix content on top of changing new content on their website.

After the content plan had been developed, the backlink audit had been presented, and the company was taught through Michael Russel SEO’s online copywriting training the company was able to determine the weaknesses inside of the company on a local Mansfield, Ohio scale and national United States level for e-commerce.

The basics to SEO in 2019

So at first glance, you may notice a couple of things. The website formatting itself is very business-friendly as well for the everyday personal user. Now you may notice it doesn’t utilize a ton of backlinks for their website portfolio, but it definitely has some high-quality ones from the associated press, do-follow links from Amazon and more.

You can check any of the website backlinks that I mention here on websites such as Moz.

Where it will display your page authority and domain authority.

Page authority is found by factors such as viewership, domain age, content being quality, uniqueness, and internal linking such as bread crumbs.

Bread crumbs are where your site structure follows the same linking techniques inside of the website.

A good example of this would be URL: DOMAINNAME/Keyword/Keyword-Product-Name-Specifics

Backlinks are known as the credibility or boosters in the website traffic. Without backlinks on any website, you may find it incredibly hard to get any traffic to your website.

The video below will show you some important tips on how to rank in SEO that is a MUST in 2019 to get ahead of your competition.

Easy tips for making quality content

Some tips for making quality content would include a keyword focus. Not only to rank your website much higher than someone who doesn’t utilize this but also to create a niche website or blog post. You don’t want to focus on the hardest difficulty keyword you can find such as “SEO” or “Bitcoins” these are often some of the hardest to rank in due to the amount of traffic and competitors in these markets. However, if you were to instead use the keyword “Bitcoins” – instead you could use “What are good tips to look for when buying bitcoins” it’s more direct, it’s more focused on and it allows you to really shine on the more direct community who in return will enjoy the topic much more.

Now picking out a keyword can definitely take countless hours between finding a term and researching the term to be able to use it on a website or a personal blog. It’s okay, you’ll get quicker with blog posts over time and it will become second nature within the first few. I find that some of the best ways to write content are early in the morning right after you wake up. Your mind is relaxed and you are refreshed allowing all of your ideas you may have thought about over the last day, weeks, months to be ready to be used.

This is what a Google Snippet will look like on a search engine. As you can tell the Google snippet helps to stand out to your customers. It also provides a great way to cover most of the first page of the Google result which can greatly help you become visible on certain terms.

Some of the tips you will want to use for Search Engine Optimization is by helping to answer users’ questions surrounding a certain topic. How can I make an SEO Blog Post? What is SEO? What is Local SEO? How can SEO help? These are just a few of the examples that users are searching every single day on Google search engines and how they are using these terms to determine the result or in this case the answer. Not only can this be vital for appearing in search engines, but it also helps the users gain trust in the content of your website or brand by providing reputable, well-researched, and content that goes into depth around the topic. Remember, taking the time to provide someone with the correct answer on Google can often create Snippets that help you receive more clicks to your website.

How Do You Get a Snippet?

The number one way to get a snippet is by answering a question in as much detail as possible without dragging the direct answer out. Although having a lot of content does indeed help you rank for semantic keywords or in other words keywords that are extremely similar to the result users are searching for you want to answer or provide a summary in the second paragraph of the article. This gives you the highest chance of receiving a snippet after research monitored 1.5 million websites and determined providing the answer in bold also helps greatly. Although competitors may be in the featured snippet on Google you can often steal the snippet by providing a higher quality content result than your competitor. You can do so by using an SEO technique that is known as “Skyscraper SEO”. Skyscraper SEO is taking what another website has used in forms of research and content and providing a much better detailed, better job explaining, as well as answering similar questions that are asked around the topic.

The picture above shows how Google Data Centers determine what Search Engine Results are most relevant to your search.

Some additional content writing tips

  • Wear headphones to listen to music
  • Earplugs
  • Candles
  • Comfy attire if possible
  • Most importantly – never write when you are upset

Headphones – If you utilize writing with headphones and listen to music you can usually boost your mood in return making more readable content that is friendly feeling and boosts your mood at the same time. Now, if you have deadlines to hit or if you have goals you want to reach this may not be the number one thing you should do as it will often delay the post but it can greatly improve upon the tone throughout the reading if you are in a good mood while writing.

Ear Plugs –  simple as it may sound often if you use earplugs to remove sound it can help by removing the distractions. There is nothing worse than a dog barking or birds chirping for several hours when you have deadlines to hit.  You can often get a pack of earplugs for 25 sets for under $3.00 even! It’s the best return on investment you can ever buy. Trust me on this! They also don’t have to be fancy. The simpler the earplugs are the better they can be.

Candles – sometimes all it takes is a smell to feel relaxed. Remember the last time you walked into a warm room in the midst of Winter and felt like a weight was lifted off your shoulders? Only to then find the sweet smell of chocolate chip cookies. Believe us – sometimes all it takes is a smell to change a good mood to a great mood. When your mood becomes dull – often does your writing as well.

Comfy – Remember that it doesn’t always take SEO to boost your rankings on Google. If you are comfy or relaxed it can go often very far in terms of quality unique content. When your quality of content is high as well as being unique there is very little to stop you from charging up the ranks on Google or any other search engine. Remember the most important thing to rank your website is quality content, backlinks, and keyword research.

Mood – We all have our days where nothing seems to be going to write. It’s a big part of everyone’s life. It happens all too often when you least expect it. It’s okay. Relax. Breathe. Go on a nice walk. Grab some food or your favorite drink and focus. Instead of writing, potentially look into doing some keyword research that day. In the SEO and Copywriting world, there are also things you can be doing to increase your rankings.

How to write a blog post to increase SEO

It is always a wonderful idea that when you make a blog post you never attempt to use keyword tactics such as keyword stuffing. This is a big problem with many young SEO guys who attempt to manipulate the search engine into thinking that the content you are producing is valuable to the reader – it’s not and Google has the tools to tell.

Secondly, let’s remember the overall goal. When the customer or reader clicks the page to visit the website similar to how you got here is by looking for answers. Don’t leave the customer leaving your page not learning anything from the information you provided and secondly don’t leave the customer endlessly searching for customers these tactics will not work.

Did you know that Blogs have been shown to also decrease the price of advertisements or pay-per-click traffic on your website as well? This is from creating trust with Google that you are providing great information or products to your customers with being an expert in the field. Google even can take into fact as your name being a reputable source surrounding the niche as an expert who may know what they are talking about, or someone who is newer in the field and has not researched as much as others. Blogs can provide great reputable signals to Google that can help you rank for similar products along with the website that in return helps you receive more traffic and leads that can lead to ultimately more sales or clients.

How to decide on a topic to write about

The best way to write a blog post is by deciding on a topic to write about, I would greatly suggest a smaller niche rather than a broad term that can have an endless competition to fight for ranks on Google. It’s a good SEO technique to attempt to rank a lot of smaller positions on Google for rank 1 rather than one large keyword at the start of a website to drive traffic.

You may also want to put yourself in the shoes of the reader who is visiting your website. Ask yourself when you look at a post you are creating. Would YOU read YOUR work? Would you learn anything? These are valid but definitely helpful questions to ask when you are thinking about all the endless possibilities of writing.

Knowing your Demographic

It’s important that any website or blog know the demographics of their readers. For example, most of my readers come from the United States, United Kingdom, & India. Those are the large majority of countries that use SEO and SEO services, so it makes sense.

However, some of the local SEO services I offer in my area are in Columbus, Ohio and my personal smaller business search engine optimization in Mansfield, Ohio.

So it definitely can go a little bit of both ways in terms of knowing your audience by location.

Lastly, let’s talk about Blackhat SEO vs Whitehat SEO

Blackhat SEO

What is the difference between the two you may ask? Well, it’s simple back in the starting days of the internet the way we know how Google ranks websites today was a little different. Back then you could almost guarantee any website rank 1 for any term just by throwing hundreds, thousands, or millions of backlinks on a website and this caused mass amounts of websites to become blackhat or spam websites. Many careers were started in the blackhat services industry and can be found all over the internet. However, by using blackhat services you are basically cheating Google and Google now has the tools to track any get rich quick schemes.

Whitehat SEO

White Hat SEO is different from gray hat SEO and black hat Seo as you are following all the rules and playing safe on your website. The amount of traffic you get long term will greatly benefit from having a lot of white form content, preventing you from getting blacklisted from Google when you are on the search engines for keywords. The safest and typically the most effective method of ranking SEO websites would be going through with White Hat SEO. There would be nothing worse I could imagine than spending hundreds of hours on a website only for the website to be deranked and you lose all of your hard work and money spent on the investment of the website.

P.S. Never used Blackhat SEO either use Grayhat or Whitehat to keep you and your website safe from potential Google Penalties!

Now that you have checked out some of my content on my website also remember to check out some of the other content on my website. I have dozens of posts at the time of writing this post about SEO, Social Media, and growth techniques to help you see the numbers you want in the time you want it!
